Let It Roll Right Off Your Back: The Joy of Nursing

Nursing a task oft glory filled,
Always a challenge, never stilled.

It's not easy though some will say,
Nursing is changing ev'ry day.

Too many patients needing care;
There's no job with which to compare.

Sometimes it seems more like a zoo;
Patients get old, unhappy too.

No place to go, no one to see;
Life for some a pity party.

Patients think, take time to complain;
Soon it'll be about the rain.

Raindrops pattering all day long;
Endless heartache, a wordless song.

Winter too long. it's far too cold.
Why do teenagers seem so bold?

Senseless smattering words gone wild;
Writing that reads just like a child.

Dreams seem futile, now too extreme,
Endless complaints; there is a scream.

Pain still nibbling at old bones.
"Yes, good morning there, Mr. Jones."

You know spring is always on track.
You let it roll right off your back.

Here and there encounter a smile;
That's when you go that extra mile.

Nurses often go that extra mile because they know the joy of nursing.
