What Goes Up? Defying the Law of Gravity

There is no doubt that what goes up,
Is like aroma from a cup,
Defies the law of gravity,
As such appears then, to be free.

Natural law would reign supreme,
And so it should, or so must seem.
There are exceptions to this rule.
Warm air rises, not what is cool.

But, what goes up can turn around
And come crashing down to the ground.
Cool air does this all of the time.
Whim of natural law sublime?

Divine law has a better way.
Above natural law, we pray.
Prayers go up, but they don't come down;
Blessings then fall and thus abound.

Natural law we understand
At least in part, so we command.
Spiritual law, higher yet,
Works in God's way, lest we forget.

A poem about natural law versus divine law
