I can't promise you forever,
As there's nothing that I can say
To guarantee that I'll love you,
Because our love may slip away.

Life oft goes its own direction;
Unforgivable words, I know,
It will be one day at a time,
As our love we will try to show.

As we strive to climb yet higher,
See the sun's glow light up our path.
Rest in blessings of tomorrow,
Not in yesteryear's aftermath.

Know that there is still a fountain
That will refresh our afterlife.
Far beyond the highest mountain,
Also life's trials and its strife.

It's a realm of pure forgiveness
Beyond where words can ever speak.
It is where the true souls gather,
The refuge that the godly seek.

Yes, promises may be broken;
That is not the way it should be.
Keep your ear tuned to the morrow,
The truth of our reality.
